Google Summer of Code …
Information Session – Mar. 4, 7:00-9:00pm; location: Bergeron 217
Learn about how your summer could be spent working with a mentor organisation on their open source project.
To participate you’ll contact a mentor organization, write up a project proposal for the summer, and if accepted you’ll first spend a month integrating with the organizations prior to the start of coding. Then you’ll have three months to code, meeting the deadlines agreed upon with their mentors, who help students plan their time, answer questions and provide guidance on best practices, project-specific tools, and community norms.
Participants receive a stipend, enabling them to focus on their programming projects for the three months.
