EECS welcomes two new faculty members

The EECS Department is pleased to announce the addition of two new faculty members, effective January 2021.

Dr. Saed Alrabaee most recently served as an Assistant Professor in Information Systems and Security at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). Having received his PhD in 2018 at Concordia University in Montreal, his research addresses software security and malware detection, binary code finger printing, authorship attribution and digital forensics. He has authored a book on Binary code finger printing for Cybersecurity and has received grant funding on projects relating to binary source code matching for malicious code analysis, and fingerprinting for big data security analytics.

Dr. Yan Shvartzshnaider was most recently a Faculty Fellow in the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University (NYU), and con-currently, a Visiting Associate Research Fellow at the Center of Information Technology Policy (CITP) at Princeton University. His research takes a multidisciplinary approach focusing on building people-centred privacy-preserving socio technical systems by combining fundamentals of software engineering, social science and ethics. Dr Shvartzshnaider received his PhD in Engineering from the University of Sydney in 2014 and he has completed postdocs at Cambridge and Princeton before becoming a fellow at NYU.
