EECS MSc student, Robert Codd-Downey, and Professor Michael Jenkin are co-recipients of the 2016 IEEE International Conference on Information and Automation Glitch Best Paper in Robotics Award
Robert Codd-Downey and Michael Jenkin were co-recepients of the 2016 IEEE International Conference on Information and Automation Glitch Best Paper in Robotics Award in Ningbo, China. This paper describes efforts to enable an autonomous aquatic surface craft to build a representation of the water body in GPS- and compass-denied regions. This work is part of Robert’s MSc thesis work. Much of the data collected for this work was obtained on Stong Pond using the resources of the York Centre for Field Robotics. The work involved a modified Clearpath Kingfisher robot and used datasets obtained at York, in Kelowna and in Sudbury. The figure of the robot shows it operating in Kelowna.
