EECS Doctoral Student Paria Mehrani Awarded Queen Elizabeth II’s Scholarship

The Ontario government, in partnership with Ontario universities through private sector matching funds, rewards excellence in graduate studies through the Queen Elizabeth II’s Graduate Scholarships in Science and Technology program. Each scholarship is worth $5,000 per term up to a maximum of $15,000 per academic year.

Under the supervision of professor James Elder, Paria is working on the problem of single-view reconstruction of smooth objects.  This is an interesting computational problem that has application to 2D to 3D film conversion.
