EECS Doctoral Student Nima Shahbazi Wins Second Prize at Worldwide Competition
A team consisting of Sean Vasquez (MIT), Qingchen Wang (University of Amsterdam Business School),
Thomas Heiling, and our PhD student Nima Shahbazi has won the second prize in a worldwide competition
organized by Kaggle (https://www.kaggle.com/about). The goal of the competition was to improve
HomeDepot customers’shopping experience by developing a model that can accurately predict the relevance
of search results.
This is not the first time Nima has been successful in Kaggle competitions (he placed 2nd, 7th and 32nd in
three other competitions). He is now ranked 52nd out of more than half a million data scientists in Kaggle community.
