Aquatic robots in Barbados
Faculty, technicians and graduate students from York University participated in the NSERC Canadian Robotics Network (NCRN) Aquatic Field Trials in Holetown, Barbados last week. A large number of robots participated in a range of experiments designed to extend our understanding of how best to deploy robots, and groups of robots, to tackle a range of tasks above and under the water’s surface. Shown above are two robots from York. Eddy 2, an unmanned surface vehicle and Milton a thruster-bass underwater robot. Operating such robots in close proximity allows GPS data from the surface robot to inform operations of the unmanned underwater vehicle operating at depth.
