Department Seminar: Towards Resilient Energy and Transportation Infrastructures

October 31 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Professor Hossam A. Gabbar (University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT))

Towards Resilient Energy and Transportation Infrastructures

Date: Wednesday October31st 11:30am – 12:30pm

Location: LAS 3033

Lunch will be provided.

Abstract:

This talk will present recent research and state-of-the-art technologies of resilient energy systems for residential, commercial, and transportation infrastructures. Advances in planning, control and protection of interconnected micro energy grids and their deployment with energy conservation strategies towards smart cities and sustainable communities. The talk will include gas-power systems, plasma-based waste-to-energy solutions, and integrated energy storage with renewable energy technologies of flywheel and battery systems. Opportunities will be discussed for profitable deployment projects and implementations in Durham Region, Ontario, Canada, and worldwide.
